About Sacred Heart

Our History

Sacred Heart Catholic School (SHCS) was built by the sacrifices of the parish community and supported fully by concerned parents seeking the best education for their children. SHCS school has been in existence since 1933 and continues to be an icon of stability, tradition, good moral values, respect for others and property and the Love for God. When you choose SHCS as your child’s primary education, it involves commitment and exhibits your true concern for helping your child recognize God as the greatest good in their life.

Our Culture

A Tradition of Excellence

Built from the ground up and inspired by the parish community and sacrifices of the church, we have worked tirelessly to create an environment where children flourish.

Vision

In a world full of distractions, we are working to put God back as our main focus.

Mission

The three-fold plan of our Catholic education is to teach children how to live and teach the Catholic faith, build and strengthen community, and serve others.

Motto

“The rain came down… and the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

Matthew 7:25

Meet Our Staff

Your Partners in Educating Your Children

Our staff and teachers happily recognize that parents are the first educators of their children and that’s why we encourage your interest and involvement in all aspects of your child’s education, as well as extracurricular activities outside of the classroom. Our entire academic program and curriculum are in harmony and formation with the Catholic doctrine of faith.

Faith-Based Curriculum

High Standards in Education

At SHCS, we strive for the highest standards of Catholic education by following curriculum guidelines set by the Archdiocese of San Antonio which incorporates the Catholic standard and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Sacred Heart, Here for Learning

Parents & Families

Service Credits

Families must earn 15 service credits per semester, a total of 30 services credits for each school year. Service credits can be earned by volunteering, using individual skills for services, purchasing items for the school or classroom. A variety of sign-up opportunities will be posted throughout the year. Our PTC president, sends out requests/opportunities on Signup via Facebook and emails. Join our Sacred Heart School PTC group on Facebook. Here are examples of ways to earn credits.

* Not all donations are service credits. Check with PTC or the school office — please do not assume.
** Extra sales of raffle tickets only count as service credits when advertised that way.
*** Attending PTC meetings counts as 1 service credit per adult family member.

Sacred Heart Catholic School is dependent upon family involvement. Your cooperation is necessary in order to achieve future goals. We ask that you purchase items or volunteer each semester. Families who do not participate at all will be invoiced $1,500 per semester. This is easily avoidable by purchasing something on your child’s Teacher Wishlist or by volunteering.

Fostering a Closer Union

The purpose of the PTC is to coordinate programs to enhance Catholic Education in the homes and school at Sacred Heart School by the following means
